Spellings:

Each week, your child will be tested on a set of spellings which link to a rule or pattern. Spelling tests will take place on a Monday and the new list for the week ahead will also be shared.

We please ask that families set aside blocks of 10-15 minutes at least three times a week for children to practise their given rule.

Please click on the document link below (Summer 2) for this half term’s spellings.

Home learning ideas to support Year 5:

Following on from Year 4’s Multiplication Tables Check, Hit the Button game on the Top Marks website is really useful for learning unfamiliar times tables. The children should recognise this game.  Times Tables Rockstars is also another familiar fun game for the children to practise at home.  See if you can beat them on each times table!

Current affairs and the world around them is really important so accessing the Newsround website is an excellent way to continue to do this, like they did in Year 4.  It is updated every day with news stories around the world in a way that is accessible and interesting to children.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround

OPTIONAL Homework Activities:

Each half term, we will give the children some fun OPTIONAL Homework activities to complete, if they’d like to.  Any entries will be proudly hung on our PROUD wall in the school hall and shared in Friday’s celebration assembly.

Below are the optional homework activities that have been set so far this academic year:

Autumn 1, 2024 Optional Homework – Flags!
